Frequently Asked Questions Q. What is the Frassati Society? A. The Frassati Society of Young Adults is established as a community of young people who desire to live a life of holiness in imitation of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the midst of the modern era. The Society is composed of men, women, religious sisters, brothers and priests who have come together in mutual support for prayer, fellowship, study, ownership of the Catholic faith and communion in Christ. (quoted from The Frassati Society handbook) Q. Who was Pier Giorgio Frassati? A. Pier Giorgio Frassati was a rich, handsome, athletic young man from an aristocratic Italian family. At a young age he began to develop a deep spiritual life. When Pier Giorgio's parents discouraged his religious involvement he began to secretly minister to the poor. He died of polio at age 24. He has been described by our Holy Father, Pope John Paul II, as "a man of the eight beatitudes, a modern youth and a great mountaineer who was keenly interested in the problems of culture, sports, and social questions, as well as the true values of life." Q. How do I start my own local chapter of the Frassati Society? A. After many requests from local groups around the nation, the Frassati Society is blessed to now have a member dedicated to helping local groups obtain the resources and information needed to get started. Once a group becomes an official chapter of the Society, they will have access to the Frassati Society handbook and resources. Those interested may contact Larry Booksh for more information.
